School scheduling
that tells you the truth
Bellweave builds your school’s timetable, keeps every teacher, room and class conflict-free, and finds the right cover the moment someone calls in sick — or tells you honestly when no one is available.
In active development — piloting with a handful of schools this term.

Conflict-free by construction — and honest the moment it can’t be.
The short version
What it actually does.
Three jobs, done the same way every week — and each one told straight when it can’t be done.
-
Builds a timetable that holds.
Every teacher, room and class stays conflict-free, automatically, every week of term. When something genuinely can’t be scheduled, Bellweave says so instead of quietly forcing it in.
Read the rules it never breaks -
Covers the Monday someone’s out.
The moment a teacher calls in sick, Bellweave finds the best-placed colleague to step in — or tells you plainly when nobody qualified is free, instead of guessing.
See a real morning play out -
Keeps an honest record.
Every change is logged: who, when, and why. The published plan is never quietly rewritten, so you can always account for what actually happened.

Who it’s for
Built for whoever owns the timetable.
Head teacher, deputy head, business manager, or the person who actually builds the grid every term — Bellweave is built around them.
-
Head teachers & deputies
The whole term in one place — no surprises on a Monday morning.
-
Business managers
One campus or many, scheduled the same honest way.
-
Timetablers & schedulers
Build it once, trust it every single week.
-
IT & systems leads
A system that says what it did, not just what it meant to do.
How it works
Four stages, in brief.
Build the campus, publish only what the rules allow, repair the days that change, and keep the record straight afterwards.
-
Set up the campus.
Bell schedules, curriculum, teachers, rooms — configured per campus, per weekday.
-
Publish what you can defend.
Generate a draft against every rule that governs your week; publish only what it can defend.
-
Repair the morning.
When plans change, find the right cover — or say honestly when there isn't one.
-
Answer for it later.
Keep the plan and what actually happened separate, so the term can be audited.
The rules
Thirteen rules that never bend.
Every hard rule is checked before a single lesson is placed. If satisfying all of them means a slot stays empty, it stays empty.
- H1: One teacher, one place, one period
- H2: One room, one class, one period
- H3: One class, one lesson, one period
- H4: Room fits the subject it's built for
- H5: Teacher certified for the subject taught
- H6: Curriculum minutes met, not exceeded
- H7: No lesson outside the bell schedule
- H8: Shared rooms never double-booked
- H9: Split classes never rejoin mid-period
- H10: Cross-campus travel time honoured
- H11: Contracted hours never exceeded
- H12: Legal minimum breaks respected
- H13: Exam and event blocks left untouched
“A system that would put a titration in the sports hall to keep its grid tidy is a system that is lying to you.”
Four more goals it tries hard to hit — and can bend, when it has to.
- S1: Balanced teaching days across the week
- S2: Minimal gaps between a teacher's lessons
- S3: Even room utilisation across the campus
- S4: Staff preferences honoured where possible
Substitution
Gated, not guessed.
When a teacher or room goes out, candidates pass through four gates before anyone sees a name. If nobody clears all four, the list is honestly empty.
-
Gate 1
Qualified
Certified for the subject and stage being taught.
-
Gate 2
Available
Free at that exact period — not just that day.
-
Gate 3
Compliant
Placing them here still holds every hard rule.
-
Gate 4
Preferred
What's left is ranked by fit, not picked at random.

Start from a blank week, or load a sample and adjust it. Click any cell to cycle its subject — this is a cosmetic preview of the real editor, not the generator itself.
